CyBearVPN is not connecting
Experiencing issues connecting to CyBearVPN can be frustrating, but many common problems can be resolved with a few simple troubleshooting steps. This guide outlines the most frequent solutions to help you get back online securely.
Common Fixes: CyBearVPN is Not Connecting
Before contacting support, please try the following steps in order:
- Restart the CyBearVPN Application
Sometimes, a temporary glitch in the application can prevent it from connecting.
- Close the App Completely: Do not just minimize it. Force close the CyBearVPN app from your device's recent apps/multitasking screen.
- Reopen the App: Wait a few seconds, then launch the CyBearVPN app again.
- Attempt to Connect: Try connecting to your desired server.
- Verify Your Internet Connection
CyBearVPN requires an active and stable internet connection to function.
- Check Wi-Fi or Mobile Data: Ensure your device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network or has active mobile data.
- Test Other Apps: Open a web browser or another internet-dependent app (e.g., YouTube, a news app) to confirm your internet connection is working correctly without the VPN.
- Restart Your Router/Modem (if on Wi-Fi): If other devices are also having issues, try restarting your home router or modem.
- Switch Servers or Protocols
One of the most common and easily resolvable issues involves server or protocol selection. Network environments and regional restrictions may affect connectivity to certain servers.
What to do:
- Open the CyBearVPN application.
- Navigate to the server list, and try connecting to a different server, preferably in another country or region.
- If the issue persists, go to the settings and change the VPN protocol
Different protocols may perform better in different network conditions, so switching protocols can often resolve temporary disruptions.
- Generate a New Access Key (Especially for Server List Issues)
Your Access Key is crucial for the app to retrieve the latest server list and authenticate your premium status. If your server list appears empty, outdated, or you're consistently failing to connect, your current Access Key might be stale or corrupted in the app.
- Go to Your CyBearVPN Web Dashboard: Open your web browser and navigate to
https://cybearvpn.com/. Log in to your account using your email and the one-time login passcode. - Locate Your Access Key: In your account dashboard, find the section where your personal Access Key is displayed.
- Generate a New Key: Look for an option to "Generate New Key," "Refresh Key," or similar. Click this to create a fresh Access Key.
- Copy the New Key: Carefully copy the newly generated Access Key to your clipboard.
- Enter New Key in CyBearVPN App: Open the CyBearVPN app on your device. Go to the section where you input your Access Key (usually in "Settings" or "Account"). Delete the old key and paste the newly generated one.
- Activate/Apply: Confirm the new key in the app. The app should refresh and display the updated server list.
- Attempt to Connect: Try connecting to a server again.
- Reinstall the CyBearVPN Application
A fresh installation can resolve corrupted files or persistent software glitches.
- Uninstall the App: On your device, uninstall the CyBearVPN application.
- Restart Your Device: Power off your phone/tablet completely, then turn it back on.
- Download and Reinstall: Go to your device's official app store (Google Play Store for Android, Apple App Store for iOS) and download the CyBearVPN app again.
- Log In with New Access Key: After installation, open the app and input the newly generated Access Key from Step 4.
- Attempt to Connect: Try connecting to a server.
- Submit a Feedback Log
If changing servers or protocols does not resolve the issue, the next step is to submit a detailed feedback log. These logs allow the CyBearVPN technical team to analyze what might be going wrong.
Steps:
- Click the settings icon in the top right corner of the CyBearVPN app
- Tap or click on “Share Logs.”
- Submit your issue
- Check Official CyBearVPN Announcements
Occasionally, service disruptions or scheduled maintenance can affect connectivity.
- Visit CyBearVPN's Official Social Media (SNS): Check CyBearVPN's official social media channels (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Telegram, etc., if they have them) for any announcements regarding server status, ongoing maintenance, or known issues. This is often the quickest way to find out about widespread problems.
