How to Set Up BearVPN on Android Phone & Tablet?

This guide will walk you through downloading, installing, and using the Bear VPN app on your Android smartphone or tablet, covering both the free connection and how to upgrade to Premium for more features.

Setting up Bear VPN on your Android device is a straightforward process that allows you to easily secure your internet connection and protect your online privacy.

You can start using the app for free with an automatic location, or subscribe to Bear VPN Premium to unlock the ability to choose specific server locations.

Follow these steps to get started:

Part 1: Download and Install Bear VPN

  1. Open the Google Play Store:

    • Find the Google Play Store app icon on your Android device's home screen or in your app drawer and tap on it to open the store.

You can also simply visit BearVPN's official website to download and install directly.

  1. Search for Bear VPN:

    • Tap on the search bar at the top of the Google Play Store screen.
    • Type "Bear VPN" into the search bar and tap the search icon (magnifying glass) on your keyboard.

  1. Find and Select the Official App:

    • Look for the official Bear VPN app in the search results. Pay attention to the app icon and developer name to ensure you select the correct one.

  1. Install the App:

    • Tap the "Install" button.
    • The Google Play Store will download and automatically install the app on your device.

Part 2: Using the Free Version (Automatic Location)

Once the app is installed, you can immediately use the free version.

  1. Launch the Bear VPN App:
    • Find the Bear VPN app icon on your home screen or in your app drawer and tap on it to open the app.

  1. Connect for Free

BearVPN Free Connection

    • When the app opens, you will likely see a main screen with a prominent "Connect" button (often a power button icon or a large central button).
    • Tap this "Connect" button.
    • The app will automatically select the optimal server location for you and establish a VPN connection.
    • Your Android device may display a system prompt asking for permission to set up a VPN connection. Tap "OK" or "Allow" to grant this permission. This is standard for all VPN apps.
    • The app interface will change to indicate that you are connected, and you should see a key icon or VPN notification in your device's status bar at the top of the screen.

Note: In the free version, you cannot manually choose the server location. The app automatically connects you to what it determines is the best available server.

Part 3: Upgrading to Premium for Specific Locations

If you want to choose a specific server location (e.g., to access content from a particular country), you need to subscribe to Bear VPN Premium.

  1. Open the Bear VPN App:
    • Launch the Bear VPN app if it's not already open.

  1. Navigate to Premium/Upgrade Section:
    • Look for an option within the app that promotes the Premium version or allows you to select locations. This might be labeled "Premium," "Upgrade," "Locations," or have a "Get Now" button visible on the main screen or in a menu.

BearVPN Premium

  1. Choose a Plan:
    • You will be presented with the available Bear VPN Premium subscription plans. These typically include options with different renewal modes:
      • Weekly
      • Monthly
      • Yearly
    • Review the pricing and benefits of each plan.
    • Tap on the plan you wish to subscribe to.

  1. Initiate Payment via Google Play:
    • After selecting your plan, tap the "Get Now" button (or similar call to action).
    • Bear VPN uses Google Play's billing system for subscriptions. A Google Play purchase window will appear, showing the details of the subscription you selected.

  1. Complete Payment via Google Play:
    • Review the purchase details in the Google Play window.
    • Confirm the payment method you want to use. This will be one of the payment methods already connected to your Google Play account (e.g., credit card, debit card, Google Play balance, PayPal).
    • Tap the "Subscribe" or "Buy" button within the Google Play window to complete the transaction. You may need to authenticate the purchase using your Google Play password, fingerprint, or other security method.

  1. Open the Bear VPN App:
    • Launch the Bear VPN app.

  1. Access the Location List:
    • With Premium active, the app interface will change. You should now be able to access the list of available server locations. This might be by tapping on the currently displayed location, a flag icon, or a "Locations" menu option.

  1. Select Your Desired Location:
    • Browse the list of countries and cities.
    • Tap on the specific server location you want to connect to.

  1. Connect to the Selected Location:
    • After selecting the location, you will be taken back to the main screen, or the app will prompt you to connect.
    • Tap the "Connect" button.
    • The app will now establish a VPN connection to the location you chose. The interface will indicate the connected location, and the VPN icon will appear in your status bar.
